  • How do I book The Hippodrome?

In order to comply with the Scottish Government’s Test and Protect scheme, we ask that visitors pre-book their tickets online or by calling 01324 506850, details of the full party will be requested upon arriving at the venue.  Ticket sales will close 15 minutes prior to the screening. The full programme and advance sales will be available soon, please keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more information.

  • When will I gain entry to the cinema?

We have adjusted our schedule to enable staff to thoroughly clean the cinema between screenings and we will aim to open the doors 30mins before the start time.

  • Do I need to pre-book my tickets for The Hippodrome or can I still buy tickets on the door before the film starts?

In order to comply with The Scottish Government Test and Protect Scheme pre-booking is now essential. At this time we are unable to provide tickets on the door before screenings. It is worth noting that due to our reduced capacity that tickets are on a first-come-first-served, so we urge you to purchase as much in advance as possible. Ticket sales will close 15 minutes prior to the screening.

  • I can’t pay by card, is there a way for me to pay in advance for Cinema tickets in person by cash?

At this time we can only take bookings over the phone or online, we can only accept card payments.

  • Do I need to print out my cinema ticket?

There is no need to print your ticket out at home.  You can just display it on your smart phone if you have one and show it to staff on arrival or quote a reference number if your booking was made over the phone

  • I have symptoms of Covid-19 / new tier restrictions mean I can’t attend but have pre-booked cinema tickets. Should I still attend? Will I get my money back?

No you should not attend the cinema. Please inform us at the earliest opportunity so we can try to resell your tickets. Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds but if we know a minimum of 2 hours before your film, then we can offer you a credit note for future use, minus the transaction fee.

If you have booked tickets and a change to the tier system means we have to close the cinema, we will offer you a credit note for future use, minus the transaction fee.

  • Do I need to give my details for Test and Protect/trace at The Hippodrome?

All customers must provide their contact details when buying online or booking over the phone in order for us to be able to provide details to Test and Protect if necessary.

  • Will you still be serving food and drinks at The Hippodrome?

Yes. Our kiosk will still be serving the same delicious treats and hot drinks. The Hippodrome offers a wide range of snacks, popcorn, ice cream, hot and cold drinks to help create an epic cinema experience for all. You can pre-book our Tasty Treats packages when you book your tickets either online, in person or on the phone.

Please ensure you take all wrappers, cans and/or bottles home with you and please also be respectful of other customers when enjoying your snacks.

  • Will the staff be wearing face masks at The Hippodrome?

Yes, to keep our staff and customers safe, our staff (unless exempt) will be wearing masks at all times.

  • What safety measures do you have in place at The Hippodrome?

The building itself has been subject to extensive safety testing and has also met the requirements of VisitScotland’s “Good to Go” accreditation. We have also introduced reserved seating to ensure we adhere to social distancing, as well as a one way system, hand sanitiser stations, sneeze screens and an enhanced cleaning regime.

Yes, our toilets will be open.

  • How many people can I attend the cinema with?

Recent clarification of the current Scottish Government Guidelines means that social distancing must be maintained in the cinemas between households or those who share a ‘bubble’. Therefore you may only book seats together as a household or ‘bubble’. If you plan to attend with friends or family out-with your household please book separately and ensure that your seats are located in separate groupings, this will be apparent on our online seating plan. Our Bookings team can help you over the phone if required.

  • How will you manage social distancing in the cinema seating?

Our ticketing system has been adjusted to ensure that there is 2m distance between groups in the cinema.  This means that we have less available seats than normal and we are also using seating area on the balcony to ensure we have enough space between groups.

  • I don't like the seats I have at the Cinema. Can I change them when I get in to the cinema or when the film starts?

No, unfortunately we can not offer different seats once you have booked.
