The Hippodrome is Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema building (opened 1912) and reopened some 97 years later in 2009 following extensive restoration and the installation of 21st-century technology. The A-listed building was the brainchild of local film-maker Louis Dickson, and is a rare example of pre-art deco cinema architecture, created by prominent Bo’ness architect Matthew Steele.
Join us as we go behind-the-scenes with staff-member Will Gibbs (Falkirk Community Trust) and tour this beautifully restored historic building which holds a unique place in the cultural heritage of Scotland.
