New Found Sound

An action-packed triple-bill which unearths gems from the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive and invites young musicians from the Falkirk District to compose, arrange and perform new scores for them.
The Junior Trad band will accompany Dundee Police Sports, a rollicking panorama of men and women of the Force competing in ‘sports’ including football (plus pillow fights, hammer throwing and highland dancing!) at the city’s Den Park Stadium. The Senior Trad band will accompany Handba’ at Kirkwall, Orkney, documenting the traditional and infamous no-holds-barred ball game played annually by the townsfolk. The fun programme concludes with musicians from Falkirk District schools performing their own composition for the charming amateur home movie Holidaying in Harris captured on camera by Nettie McGavin.
