Fill your life with film
1946. Director: Frank Capra. Runtime: 130min.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a screen outing for this much-loved cine-fable.
It is Christmas Eve and George Bailey (Stewart), dedicated, up-standing family-man, finds his beneficent company in danger of collapse, and contemplates suicide in the belief that it would be better for everyone if he was dead. But the prayers of his loved ones summon a novice guardian-angel named Clarence, keen to earn his wings by helping George. And so it passes that Clarence sets about showing George what things would have been like had he never been born…
Our afternoon screening on Sunday 21 December will be preceded by a live performance of festive songs by the local choir: The Bo’ness Belles, recently awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) on the Kings Birthday Honours List 2025 for services to charity.
