12A

2025. Director: Richard Linklater. Runtime: 106min.

The plot of Nouvelle Vague revolves around the making of the ground breaking film "Breathless" by Jean-Luc Godard. The story begins in 1959, when Godard, François Truffaut, and Claude Chabrol, critics for Cahiers du Cinéma, attend the premiere of La Passe du diable. At the afterparty, Godard criticizes the film and vows to become a director, marking a pivotal moment in his career. The film follows Godard's journey from analyzing films to directing, inspired by Truffaut's short outline and the real-life events of Michel Portail and his American journalist girlfriend, Beverly Lynette. Godard's decision to direct "Breathless" is a significant turning point in his career and the French New Wave movement.
