Hippodrome reeling with excitement

For the first time, the Glasgow Film Film Festival has spread it's wings to Boness.

In partnership with Glasgow Film Festival 2026, we will be screening "Dead Man's Wire' on Thursday 5th March at 7.30pm.

A gripping historical crime film that tells the true story of Tony Kiritsis, who, in 1977, took his mortgage broker hostage in a dramatic kidnapping that captivated the nation.

Plot Overview

The film follows Tony Kiritsis, portrayed by Bill SkarsgÄrd, an aspiring entrepreneur who feels wronged by the banking system. On February 8, 1977, he enters the office of Richard Hall, the president of the Meridian Mortgage Company, armed with a sawed-off shotgun connected to a "dead man's wire" that threatens his own life if he is harmed. This tense situation escalates as Kiritsis demands an apology and financial compensation from the company, believing he is owed money for a failed land deal.

Tickets go on sale 26th Jan 2026
