Youth and Community

Youth & Community Programme

The Festival's Youth Engagement Programme includes events specifically for under 25s, offering fun and educational experiences designed to foster an on-going relationship with cinema and the Festival's themes.

New Found Sound is the Festival's flagship youth event which has been part of the HippFest programme since the beginning. This unique schools initiative invites talented young people to create and perform music to accompany silent film. Each year we work with different local schools and their work is performed at the Festival.

Other youth and community programmes we run include:

Film Workshops with Youth Clubs in Bo'ness

Community Tours of silent films to schools, hospitals, and care homes

Hippsters - our young reviewer programme for 18-25 year olds

Filmmaking courses for young people in all aspects of filmmaking from camera and sound, to screenwriting, directing and editing.

Watch some of the films made by young people from previous years:

The Lost Child, created by Falkirk Champions and Screen Education Edinburgh (2019).

HippFest review film of The Lost Child

Love Crush (2016)

Born This Way (2018)
