Hippodrome Silent Film Festival Scoops Silent London Awards
The Hippodrome Silent Film Festival (aka HippFest) recently picked up three awards for its online screenings in 2021 at the Silent London Awards, the UK’s most prestigious awards for silent cinema.
The Festival was named Best Online Silent Film Festival 2021, for its first-ever online programme; and picked up Best Online Silent Film Screening of 2021 for its screening of Prix de Beauté (1930) with musical accompaniment from Stephen Horne.
In addition to the screenings, Festival Director Alison Strauss (Arts Development Officer, Film and Media, Falkirk Community Trust) was also named Silent Film Hero 2021, for bringing “silent cinema to Scotland each year with such love”.
The Silent London Awards are an international poll where the public and industry can nominate their favourite films, venues and festivals each year.
The Hippodrome Silent Film Festival returns to the Hippodrome in-person this year and will run from 16 - 20 March 2022.
