Hippodrome Longlisted for BIFA Cinema of the Year 2026

We are pleased to announce that The Hippodrome has been longlisted for Cinema of the Year at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) 2026, placing Scotland's first purpose-built cinema among just 15 venues across the UK in contention for the award.

Councillor Paul Garner, Acting Leader of Falkirk Council, described the longlisting as a significant achievement for both the Hippodrome and Bo'ness, recognising the work of the cinema team as well as the continued support of audiences, volunteers and local partners.

We're delighted to have been recognised alongside some of the UK's most celebrated independent cinemas and would like to thank everyone who supports the Hippodrome throughout the year.

The five shortlisted cinemas will be announced on 3 November 2026. Fingers crossed!
