Fill your life with film

Taste of Silents: Speedy (1928)

Saturday, 17 Oct 26 at 14:30 p.m.
£12.00 / £10.00 conc.

1928. Director: Ted Wilde. Runtime: 86min.

Silent comedy's 'third genius' Harold Lloyd is at his charming best in this rollicking comedy set on the vibrant streets of Roaring Twenties New York.

Harold 'Speedy' Swift (Lloyd) is an ambitious romantic who seems to find himself in a new job every week. Speedy dreams of settling down with Jean, but first he must help her grandfather protect his horse-drawn tram from a ruthless businessman.

Featuring a show-stopping and hilarious chase scene, Lloyd's last silent film is packed with personality and great gags. Look out for some gorgeous on-location shots from around New York and a major cameo from baseball legend Babe Ruth.
