04 December 2020
We are delighted to announce that we are hoping to reopen the much loved and missed Hippodrome Cinema in Bo’ness on Friday 18 December. This is subject to confirmation of the Falkirk area moving into the Scottish Government’s Tier 2 and also completion of local health and safety tests.
Our Christmas programme will be available for booking from 11 December and includes some festive favourites such as Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life and The Snowman. In order to comply with The Scottish Government Test and Protect Scheme pre-booking is now essential. You can book from 11 December by going online at hippodromecinema.co.uk or give us a call on 01324 506850.
Closed since 18 March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had hoped to reopen on 4 December. However, due to the new Scottish Government Tier system the Falkirk Council area was placed in Tier 3 which means that we were not permitted to open until Falkirk moves into Tier 2..
Located in the heart of Bo’ness, this beautiful cinema screens a year-round programme of the best new, recent and vintage cinema releases; screening events; live and encore shows from the National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company and the Met; and curated and produced the Hippodrome Silent Film Festival.
When we reopen we will have a reduced capacity to allow for social distancing, there will also be hand sanitisers, floor markers and a one way system in and around this historic building. Customers will be required to wear a mask when entering and moving around in the cinema and permitted to remove them when seated and eating or drinking.
Quote from Lesley “We are really looking forward to reopening the Hippodrome Cinema when we are permitted to do so and have a wonderful programme of Festive treats on offer. We greatly appreciate your patience and support during what continues to be an uncertain time for everyone.”
