The Hippodrome Silent Film Festival took place from Wednesday 16 March to Sunday 20 March 2022.

The 2022 Festival offered an exciting programme of silent films with live music. Highlights of the Festival included live accompaniment of Murnau's City Girl (1930) by the Dodge Brothers; live narration by Paul McGann (Dr Who, Withnail and I, Holby City); new commissions for Scotland's Year of Stories from Donald Smith, Mairi Campbell and Marion Kennedy; and the European premiere of The Loves of Mary, Queen of Scots with live narration by storyteller and performer Andy Cannon.
